Re: voyager wont start

Have you done the key dance for checking codes? Key on/off, on/off, on within 5 seconds without starting engine and count the flashes of check engine light. Example 1 flash pause 2 flashes= code 12

Post any codes if present.

Have you done a compression test on all clyinders?

Re: voyager wont start

Judging by a diagram of the distributor cap the contact inside the cap where the rotor contacts the contact for the #1 plug wire is actually between the #2 and #6 posts. Are you taking that into consideration when you check to see where the rotor is aligned? If it's aligned between the #1 and #2 posts, then the rotor is actually aligned with the #2 contact, meaning you're aligned one plug off. That is one screwy cap! If this is your problem, you are far from the first to make that mistake.

Did you mark the position of the old timing belt when you removed it? Does it backfire when you are cranking it? Look at the Online service manuals for the timing belt removal and replacement procedure and recheck your timing belt timing marks. Acutally if you did not install a new timing belt I would consider it.

Re: voyager wont start

Some progress is better than no progress. Even if the belt is in the right spot, you usually have to rotate the distributor to get it right on the specified setting. Did you try that?

Re: voyager wont start

yeah i it to the marks! got it running was realy ruff couldn't get enough movement out of cap so i went back in and jumped the belt a tooth or two! it runns better now! but i need to hold pedle to floor to get it to start! after that it runns nice untill you rev it and let off then the ideal dropps realy low and sometimes stalls! wile its running it's ok but if i disconect the egr vaccum line from intake it runns a lot better! not sure if timing is still out or egr bad or throttle position senser crapped on me! any thoughts?

Re: voyager wont start

Did you disconnect the coolant temp sensor when you adjusted the ignition timing?

Re: voyager wont start

To set ignition timing the coolant sensor has to be unplugged then set timing.
