transmission problems

I was driving the van the other day around town and I've made frquent stops and on one of my last stops the van wouldn't move. I tried shifting it into reverse and the motor just reved up. I put it in drive and it would barley pull its self. I let it sit for about 20 mins and I started it back up and all was fine. I drove it home, about a 15 min drive, and by the time I was on my road the tranny started to act up agian. It would barely pull itself.

I was reading on the net and came across an item called a TCU? Is that correct? Were is this located? also what type of fluid am I supposed to put in it? I put regular automatic fluid in it for GM's.

Re: transmission problems

probaly just low on fluid, yes its dex, might try lucus stop slip, i have felt it help out , and change the filter for sure, dont get it (force) "flushed", if you want to do a complete fluid change the good method is to hook up the trans cooler lines to the new fluid and have catch pan to collect the old fluid coming out of the other line. And run the motor and let the trans pump, suck the new fluid in.

Re: transmission problems

In this case I would say drop the pan and change the fluid and filter... Its possible that the filter may be getting plugged up...

If this does not take care of the problem then you might be in my Boat..

This is where I ended up with my 95's Transport Trans( 4T60-E, 3800 )

Re: transmission problems

I am corrected it is the TCC solenoid. I wonder if this could be the issue. I will have to have it scanned and see what's up.

I wonder what makes the speedo work? Mine all the sudden stopped working? I was told it is electronic. What do I need to look at?

Re: transmission problems

Hi, I am facing the same problem with my APV 92/93 3,1 ... Already changed fluid and filter. How did you end up this problem? Anxious hearing from you about it.
