Silverado Transmission Question
Could someone give me some information on this transmission? I have Googled this question until I feel like a Google. It was bought for a 1995 Silverado but won't fit. The number on the passenger side stamped near the bottom says 4TAD202J, so I think it fits a 1994. What other years and engine sizes will it fit? Any V-8s or V-6s? I thought somewhere on it would say 4L60E, but it doesn't. There is a very large K on each side though. Also, on the drivers side there is a number that says 8685061. On the passenger side there is a M30 and on both sides there is a 16. All these embossed into the case. I can send pictures to help if anyone wants any. This has really gotten me puzzled. Thanks for any help I receive.

Re: Silverado Transmission Question
M30 = 4L60E. What did it come out of, a 2WD or 4WD?

Later cases are two piece, with the bellhousing bolted on and these generally have '4L60E' cast in the main case. The one piece ones only say M30, but still make sure you get the right one.

Re: Silverado Transmission Question
See? That transmission will probably fit 1993-1994 models no problem. It will probably work on a first year LT1 Caprice.
