2003 Alero remove radio

I need help getting better access to the radio. I need to remove the automatic shifter. To get "good" access to the radio, I need to remove the shifter so that I can remove the trimming around the radio. I can get things to sort of bend out of the way, but not get good access without removing the shifter. Does anyone know how I can do this?

I need better access to get my new radio situated in better.

The knob can be removed by using a small screwdriver to pry out the clip that holds it on the shaft. The clip is located on the forward side, about halfway down. Remove it, then the shift knob will pull off.

Welcome to AF jbhardman !!

You can also put the key in & turn it on, then move the shifter back, remove the bezel, then put it back into park.
