1995 aurora Questions About fan relays. cooling system etc
Well the car seems to get hot well before it reaches the red..
i know i'm in trouble if its around 230ish. So i have flushed the coolant and replaced it. Then i ran it .. it came up to temp eventually idling. 15-18 mins getting up to 220 just idling normally with the heat running to vent it. Eventually the fans did kick on i didnt think they had previously after it pushed over 220 they came on. Then went off just as soon as it got just under 220.. i rather they stay on around 210. or whenver i say.. lol Also to note the fans kick on when the AC is run . .they run on low.. I noticed the car idles cooler with the AC running! i noticed this long ago whenever the car gets over 200 i put the AC on low.. it actually helps... the car idled at exactly 210 with the AC running i havent replaced the thermostat however the radiator/hose do get hot. means its circulating.. yes? and working? yes? i'd say the water pump belt tensioner could stand replacing seems to be some slack there.. however i dont see it slipping or anything or even budgin i just pushed on it and it was kinda gimpy. also i've had the car just stop shut down on me after about 20 mins of running.. only around 220-230 in temp. then i wait about 4 mins in traffic put the hood up check the trunk .. look busy.. get back in and drive the rest of the way home. heh that was before i changed the fluid. i'm reluctant to drive itfor this reason its done that pretty reliably .. could that be caused by fuel filter? or nah. i wish i knew.. lol i had the fuel injectors cleaned and that made an amazing difference in acceleration/pickup.. any way.. any thoughts on any of this is appreciated as i am rambling now.. Re: 1995 aurora Questions About fan relays. cooling system etc
The water belt tensioners move pretty easily on their own, but I have seen posts where people have replaced their tensioner and it helped keep the car running cooler. The part is about $50 on rock auto. A new belt is about $10.
These cars do run hot though, and it sounds like your car is acting somewhat normally. How many miles do you have on the car? Out of curiosity, how did you have your injectors cleaned? |

It may be worth getting an aftermarket temp switch that you can adjust the settings on, I've seen a few options on streetsideauto.com....
