2006 500 water trapped in rear driver side door panel

Just a quick post to share with everyone! Yesterday my daughter got out of the rear driver side of the car, when I looked I saw water running from the front bottom of the door panel. I looked under the lower weather stripping of the door and saw the water coming from the front weap hole on the door panel. I ran my finger across the weap hole and dislodged some road dirt that must have been thrown up in there, and with disbelief about 2 gallons of water came flying out of the bottom of the rear door panel. You might want to take a few minutes and check yours to prevent any damage

Re: 2006 500 water trapped in rear driver side door panel

My 2005 Ford 500 Leaks Everywhere!
I live in the state of New Jersey. I am so happy that I found this website because I have been having a leaking problem with my car for 2 years now.
The roof is leaking in between the visors and the side of the passenger door (where the built-in eye glass holder is).

I have the same problem that many others have with the rear passenger doors becoming filled with gallons of water when it rains hard - something that I never expected from a Ford. I have to open both doors to let out all of the water before I drive the car because the "ocean" sound is very annoying. The stream of water is enough to wash the car.

I can't wait to get rid of it - it is very embarrassing, especially since I drive people around for a living - I'm a Real Estate agent. When my clients hear the swishing sound they never fail to ask what kind of car is this so I "avoid" making the same mistake.

My passenger side carpet gets soaked when it rains hard. I find myself taking up the floor matts so the carpet can dry. My daughter is 17 years old and just began to drive. I tell her to drive her grandmothers car when it rains because she's a new driver and I don't want her to be distracted from dripping water. There is literally a tiny well in the little strip behind the cup holder - filled with water which begins to drip down the side of both front seats depending on whether I make a right or left turn.

Water is also coming in on the side of the passenger window - which trickles down into the door cup holder.

I will never buy another FORD!

This is clearly a design flaw from what I have read from other subscribers to this forum. Why haven't the cars been recalled for this/these problems!

I have yet to have any recurring issues with the water trapped in the door, nor have I had any other leaks around the seals like you are talking about. Sounds like you really got a bad one

I have a 2006 Five Hundred and I'm getting large amounts of water in my left side passenger door as well. I need to get the water running before it starts to freeze.

Run a length of coat hangar straightend out to open up the drains in the bottom of the doors. Each door has 2 openings in the bottom. Try this.
