Re: looking to buy a cd
Well I'm bored and am feeling helpful, so here's my suggestions...
Kataklysm-Their new CD is awesome, but so are the other ones Lamb of God- Can't really go wrong Arsis- "We Are the Nightmare" Tech-death metal. CD is awesome Nevermore- Anything. It's all better than any other metal you will ever listen to. Opeth- See above. Strapping Young Lad- Fear the skullet. Chimaira- "Resurrection." I'm digging this CD more and more as I listen to it. The Haunted- "One Kill Wonder" or "rEVOLVEr." Both awesome albums. God Dethroned- "The Toxic Touch." Awesome thrash/death album. Blind Guardian- Anything. They're more power/thrash metal, but they're awesome. I'd recommend "A Twist in the Myth." Daath- "The Hinderers." Tech death. Good stuff. Amon Amarth- Anything. Viking death metal, can't go wrong. Impious- "Holy Murder Masquerade." Thrash/death again. Darkest Hour- "Hidden Hands of a Sadist Nation." Hard to define this one, but buy it. It's awesome. Devildriver- Similar to Lamb of God. Death- Anything. Possibly the best tech-death band that ever existed. In Flames- Anything pre-Tokyo Showdown (use Wikipedia as a reference). Soilwork- "Steelbath Suicide" or "Full Blown Chaos." Swedish death metal. At the Gates- "Slaughter of the Soul." Helped start the Swedish death metal thing. This album is like 30 minutes long, but it's the best 30 minutes of music you will ever listen to. Kreator- "Enemy of God." Or anything else, really. Nile- Anything, although their newest, "Ithyphalic," is pretty much amazing. Behemoth- The older stuff is black metal. The newer stuff is death metal. Their new one, "The Apostasy," is their most popular album. Mastodon- Anything. You can't go wrong with their stuff. The Black Dahlia Murder- Anything. I'm a fan of "Unhallowed," but "Nocturnal" is also solid. Children of Bodom- "Something Wild." Anything works, but they go downhill after "Hatecrew Deathroll." Arch Enemy- "Wages of Sin." Their lead singer is hot and sounds better than a good portion of the male death metal singers. That's all I've got for now. Now go support the economy. Go go. |

Re: looking to buy a cd
1349 - Black metal band steadily growing in popularity here in the US
Amon Amarth - Viking death metal giants. check out songs like 'Death in Fire' or 'The Pursuit of Vikings' Bloodbath - Brutal death metal supergroup. Here's an earlier thread on them Celtic Frost - Check out 'Morbid Tales', 'To Mega Therion', 'Into the Pandemonium', and 'Monotheist'. The last is their last effort in '06, my favorite. Dethklok - Fictitious brutal death metal band from Adult Swim show Metalocalypse. They are fucking powerful. Emperor - Black metal legends Fear Factory - Industrial Death Metal. 'Demanufacture'. Gojira - Groove death metal suit from France. "From Mars to Sirius' is a killer album. Hypocrisy - Real catchy death metal. 'Roswell '47' Immortal - Probably the biggest name in black metal. They're fast, powerful, brutal, and a bit of a joke. Sons of Northern Darkness is a must have album. 'One by One' Katatonia - Doom metal that will kick your ass. Leviathan - Ambient black metal Malevolent Creation - Pure death metal with Decibel Magazine's #1 metal guitarrist of all time, Trey Azgagoth. Necrophagist - Technical death metal. No soul, all obliteration. Obituary - Legendary death metallers from Florida. Must have artist. Pestilence - Death metal Rotting Christ - Greek black metal Scar Symmetry - Pretty fucking good Gothenburg Melodic Death metal, in wake of At The Gates, Dark Tranquillity, and In Flames. Therion - Their earlier work was death metal, but now are symphonic. Ulver - Avantegard black metallers. Lots of interesting, soft music. Vital Remains - Probably THE best live death metal performance i've ever seen. Assimilate all you can. Wintersun - One man band with drum machines, this Viking metal band is cold, frost bitten madness. 'Beyond the Darkened Sun' Xasthur - Another one man band in the black metal scene. Zyklon - Industrial black metal risen from the ruins of Emperor. a band for almost every letter of the alphabet for ya. *bold shows what I personally own. 93 has a great list. I made sure not to repeat anything he put down.
