The Dark Knight - "not that good"

That is the frame of mind I went into the cinema in a last desperate attempted to lower my expectation in hopes of preventing my self being disappointed.

Please beat me up.

Although I did in on purpose, the first 15 minutes of the film proved me wrong (the reaction to a cause I was expecting), however, as I struggle to close my gaping jaw the realisation that this is the best flick I've seen since 300 starts to sink in.

Then I realised, this is better than 300 and by the time the credits role, the entire packed theater applause's Heath Ledger, our fallen hero, a shed of tear rolls down my face, as I think to my self: "I just watched a masterpiece".

Re: The Dark Knight - "not that good"

Got to view it in IMAX last night and I give it a strong B+. It was an amazingly well "comic book film" if not the best I have ever seen. The performance of Heath Ledger was perfect. I as well went into the theater trying not to listen to all the hype this film has generated, but very quickly it sucked me in. I wanted to find heath Ledger behind the makeup, but I was unable to due to his stellar performance. The movie fell short of an A+ for me at the end, but I do not want to give away spoilers. Jack Nickelson gave a great Joker during that generation and Heath Ledger gave us a different spin on it for the new generation both equally good in there own ways.

Re: The Dark Knight - "not that good"

My word that movie was so far beyond excellent. While I suspect more from the happenings, there still was some foreshadowing. If Bale just changed his movie the movie would easily the best movie in the past couple of years in everything. There was actually acting, Bale acts too much though.

Ledger was so stellar, I couldn't believe it. The movie is extremely dark though and it's what I said since Keaton that the movies needed to go back to the darker times and they went beyond.

Easily the best part of the movie, "I'm going to make this pencil disappear..."

Re: The Dark Knight - "not that good"

The movie was great, but its weird seeing a different Batman/Bruce Wayne. As a lifelong Batman fan, I didn't really like the way Bale has taken Bruce Wayne. He really isn't supposed to be snobby like this, but then again, he is supposed to be a younger Bruce Wayne. He needs to have a little more "spirit" and not necessarily as serious all the time.

In fact, the Joker is the only real cool part of the movie I thought. Heath is no Jack Nicholson, of course, but that's good cuz he wouldn't be as good if he tried to be the same. Both played the part differently and both really made their respective movies shine out above the rest because of it. Goddamn shame what happened to that boy. Easily the best performance of Heath's short career.
