4th gen nippondenso alternator
does anyone have any idea how many amps these units are rated at. I've been having problems with my battery draining since i got the new system in. I asked audiobahn how many amps that the amp i'm using draws and they said that it is 50-70 amps continuously. I think that the alternator is rated at about 55 amps, but I'm not sure. The amp also has a VU meter and when i watch it sometimes it'll drop to about 12 volts, so i'll turn it down and it'll charge back up to about 13.5-14 volts, but sometimes it won't charge and keep dropping even when i have everything turned off. When i took it to Napa, the guy that checked it said it was still good so I don't know what's going on anymore......

the apms for the alt sound about right. Amplifiers are NOT a continous draw like say a set of fog lights. The problem may be that your power wire is too small or has too high of an inductance.

uhm, i was asking how many amps the alternator is rated at. I had asked the tech support at Audiobahn how much current the my audiobahn amplifier draws and he said that it was inbetween 50 and 70 amps when being ran continuously or something like that. I'm sure it's not my wire. I have 4 guage ground and power. Maybe it's still restrictive though...I really don't want to go out and buy more wire, 4 gauge is really expensive, and the shop that I got it from cut me a deal because i get all of my accessories from there.
Only charged me $2/ft for power and ground wire, gave me free 50 amp fuse and o-rings, and gave me 11ft of 10gauge speaker wire when I asked for 4, for the same price, probably cause it was the end of the roll.

They are rated at 60-70 amps, depending on the model car and alt, but on an alt tester they do about 56-65 amps. Honda alts are small but easy to replace.

if they put out about 55-65 amps, then it should be able to handle my amplifier...guess i'm going to just go get a new alt then.

No, it is easier then that, remove the alt bracket from the block, only three extra bolts to remove and then pull out part of the splashshield and the alt will come through the side. That is what we do at work in less then 20 min.

so, do you know if an alt from a b18a or b16 will work with the mounts?
