Smile Whoaaaa

Hi Guys. I went to Autozone to get a starter for my 1989 Caprice with a Fuel injected 350. I ask for a Caprice 350 starter. I gave it to my mechanic and it didnt fit. I took it back and me and the Autozone Associate spent 30 minutes or so trying to match my old starter. I had to get a starter from a 87-90's gm model. Now that makes me wonder what type of 350 I have. Do anybody know what kind of 350 tbi could it be ??? I really would like to know.

Re: Whoaaaa

How sure are you that it's a 350? Whats the 8th digit of your V.I.N. read?

Re: Whoaaaa

A 305 should be an "E" on the 8th digit, where a 350 will be a "7".

It doesn't matter which engine, the starter should fit one or the other (although a 305 starter might be a bit small for a 350, most likely it won't). The real problem here is Autozone.
