Re: installing down stream o2 sensor

It is on the exhaust close to the firewall. I have read they are easier to remove if warmed up. I have 2 97 Lesabres and have done this a couple of times. The O2 sensor is easier to get to in order to remove it if that crossbar is unbolted and moved out of the way. I believe, Lesabres only have one O2 sensor, before the cat converter.

Are you sure? There should be a post CAT converter 02 sensor which monitors CAT converter efficiency. AC Delco PN: AFS123.

I have heard that before, but have never found a downstream sensor on my 97 Lesabre. Maybe the later years had a downstream sensor?

On the '97 model LeSabre that is quite possible. It depends on whether it was delivered with or without the RPO code WA2 changes. I recall we discussed this issue in the past concerning '97 LeSabres. For '98 and up no doubt in my mind there is a post CAT 02 sensor since I have seen it.
