Re: 1995 Honda civic hatchback styling kit?

humm, i'm afraid there won't be much help on this from AF unless someone is also doing the same bodykit mod for his/her build. maybe then maybe there's a chance a copy is obtainable...

actually you can scratchbuild this by yourself but you have to be good in styrene, putty & CA glue experiences.

i think it's either you KIV this build & train start training on something scrap or look around in the web for some resin cast sets, fingers crossed.

trust me, it won't be cheap even if you locate one such bodykit. and the best solution (to me) is do it by yourself. i'm currently doing a 91' CRX conversion into a EF9, so i know the hard work involve in this but the challenge is fun! go to my thread & see for yourself...

try on something scrap first, start asking questions (however stupid ones)& learn now!

cheers!

Re: 1995 Honda civic hatchback styling kit?

ah, there should be but i don't know where to find them.
anyway, there's really no concrete tutorials or know-how as to what you can do to styrene & putty...how to teach such materials?

i self-taught all these materials by testing & trying them out myself. i get to know their properties, strength & weaknessess by tried & error. there're thousand types of materials out there, what's available to me here may not be the case for you...

here're some things i learn to use in my scratchbuilding;

car putty (cheap)
styrene sheets & rods of many sizes(main dish)
CA glue (flavor)
epoxy putty (strong caster)
all types primer (yes, know all the lacquer, enamel & acrylic properties)
sanding files (i use 240 right up to 12000 grit)
thread cutter (tiny thin cutter)
minisaw (heavy duty cutter)
scale ruler (yes you measure alot!)
p/e templates of various shapes & sizes
copper, aluminium & brass sheets & rods

basically you can use anything you can find anywhere, for scratchbuilding. i've just learnt that those cigarette pack foils can be used as heat shields in modeling...the learning curve never ends here. i uses those drinking straw that has a flexible tube as air ducts for the front brake cooling!

so use your creativity & imaginaton!
this is why i never give up modeling...it gives you brainstorming lessons. you'll end up very sharp & smart in life...

that's all i can tell you, now go & try out everything but experiment on scraps first...not new kits!

Re: 1995 Honda civic hatchback styling kit?

There are a couple of tutorials at the top of the forum. There are several in the how-to depository on working with styrene, and there is even a thread in there somewhere about building a body kit posted by R-Tuned, that I have used in the past.

I would start there.
