AC Blower not working on 94 Quest

Hi all, nothing like July heat with four kids in the car and a broken AC

My AC is not blowing any air from the front nor back. My wife said she saw a few tendrils of smoke come from the front vents and the AC hasn't worked since. I've checked all the fuses and they check out. When I turn the ac on the compressor does kick in but no air comes out.

Has anyone ran into such a problem? I know about the rear AC problem and actually re soldered it a year ago. I doubled checked it today and the solder still looks good. Could it be the front blower? I'd think the rear would still work though.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks, Chris

Have you checked the blower resistor located in the engine compartment by the heater motor. Go to this site: [email protected] and look in the file section with the title of Blower motor resistor and it will show a picture of location. If you need more info send me a PM with your email address and I will send you some possible helpful info.

I'm going to look that up in the fsm and check it out. But I am thinking it is something in the line like the blower since electrical smoke did come out the front vents. I'm devoting Sunday to the task and will report back.

Well I've pulled the blower and it works. Hooked it up to the battery and it turned on. I'm looking at the blower motor resister and it looks fine too. Do you have any other suggestions?

Did you check the resistro for continuity? Double check the fuses. Have you checked the relays for AC and blower motor? I would also inspect the fans switches and controls for bad connections at the panel.

Thanks for the reply tempfixit. Can you give me a little information on checking for continuity. I've rebuilt motors before but electronics are beyond me. I have a digital volt meter but I'm not sure on what Ohm setting I should put it on. I have 200 2k 20k 200k and 2m.

Setting it at 200 and connecting the two exposed metal tabs I get a reading of 2.5. I get the same reading from the top left and bottom right poles of socket. where I plug in. Below you can see all my readings from different configrations.

ON the other two poles I get .7

I am not much on electrical myself. You state that you have the FSM go to the HA (Heater and AC Section), I think it is page 49 and it has a procedure there that I believe should help you diagnose your problem.

Good Luck
