Question '93 MGM Bad Waterpump?

Could someone give me some insight before I start swaping part?
I recently had the freeze plug leak fixed on GM because it was leaking. Since the repair, I no longer have coolent leaks but have been noticing that the engine temp was getting on the high end of normal band. I replaced the thermostat thinking I had a bad one but the new thermostat did not correct the problem.
I am thinking that it could be a bad waterpump as I don't seem to be getting any circulation of the coolent. The coolent in the overflow reservoir is full right at the mark that I filled to and the hose between the thermostat and the radiator does not seem to be full (the top of the hose is much cooler than the bottom).
If my guess is off, what other conditions should I be looking for?
Local Pepboys wants $90 for a coolent system check but I can buy a new waterpump for have that price.

Normally water pumps don't go sorta bad. They either work or they don't. Get a thermometer and test the actual temperature when your gage says its hot. It could be something as simple as a bad sending unit.

Feel your top and bottom water hose you should have hot water on both hoses. I think your radiator is plugged up a common occurance on your age of vehicle.
If the heater blows hot air your water pump is working.
