90 xj 4.0 engine light on when in 4wd

when i was in 4wd the other day i noticed the engine light came on, when i disengaged 4wd it went away.....were the problem could be i dont know...any ideas will be helpful...thanks.

You could have a vacuum issue. The front axle is engaged with a vacuum line. There might be a leak in the line. Did you check if your axle was engaged at all? Other than that I'm not sure. May just be some wierd computer issue. I wouldn't worry about it.

A vac problem is possible, The "engine" light came on when a code was set, if you can, try to retreive the code(s) to better get an idea of what is happening. Did anything change when you were in 4wd. Was everything working correctly?
