AirBag Problem

Whats up guys... My best friend just got a 89 ranger with bags on it and what not. Well the other night he went to the store and before he got out he dropped it and shut off the car. WHen he came back out to get in he went to raise it up and it woudlnt. The tank wont even turn on now. Im kinda curious to see if anyone can give me some help or not. Please any ideas woudul be apprciated. Im thinkign it is the switch to turn on the tank liek the relay line is bad. Not sure. I havent got to look at it yet. Let me know. Thanks again..

Then dont post.. But, i think i know what the problem is, The bags normally have a circuit board running all the pumps, solinoids, etc.) check board (wherever its located) and make sure all is good, check for loose connection, total disconnections, bad soder points, and if there are bad points, just take a soder gun to it, but be careful if you do, you can mess up a board if you dont do it right.

If you do this and still wont raise, then check the lines, pump, tank.. do this and report back, i'd like to know if you fixed it or not.

Sounds like a custom setup. The only circuit board you'll find is the one in the switch box.. If he even has one. The only issues I've seen with the switch box is that the wires come loose from the switch. The pump is usually triggered by a pressure sensor that goes to a relay. The valves are basically solenoids. From what it sounds, it's not getting any positive voltage. I would see if they were professional enough to install a fuse near the battery. If it's blown, you should investigate why it's blown before replacing.

There's no standard way of installing air bags, so no one can be much help with no knowledge of the installation. It's a dead simple consept. You shouldn't have any issues finding the problem.
