intermitant engine stall?
Hey all, 2000 GS/ AT 3.8 SC... intermitantly the engine will stall out. One time the tach shot up to 9,000 then 0 then up to 7,000 and the engine quit, the motor didn't race that high, also the average miles per gal reset as well as the trip odomoter. Could it be a bad ECM?

Welcome to AF.
PCM is possible but based on your symptoms I'd check into a possible crank position sensor issue first.

Yea I was afraid to hear that, its a pretty big job from what I seen, I'll keep you posted after I replace it this weekend.. Thanks for the input

It can be tedious to replace and some special tools are needed. The link below has a tech procedure that will help. For a Grand Prix but Regal is similar. Good luck!

BNaylor, thanks for the tips, I just got done putting new sensor in time to test drive it, it took a little longer than exoected but no biggie, that's what a 6 pack is for...
