Where is DPFE located?
Hi,
I have a 98 SE with 24 V Duratec with 143,000 on it. It is spitting out a 401 code, which is low flow EGR. After reading a few posts here and another forum, I think that I will take a look at the DPFE sensor first, the only problem is that I have no idea where it is located. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Steve |

Re: Where is DPFE located?
It is bolted to the back of the intake a little to the passenger side of center. Here is a generic picture. Yours is probably alinumum instead of plastic. However, the replacement will more than likely be plastic.

Re: Where is DPFE located?
Thanks for the info.....I've been doing alot of reading on this, seen diagrams and pictures of what it looks like. I was afraid that it would be located there, seems that I have to remove a few things to get at it. And I really don't know if that is the real culprit of the 401 code. Contemplating taking it to the dealer to have them do it, I'm pretty handy but don't want to mess things up. Again thanks for your help.

Re: Where is DPFE located?
It is easily replaced. Just 2 hoses, one wiring connector and two mounting bolts. The other thing may be clogged EGR passages. You would need to remove the valve and clean the passages with something that will get all of the carbon out. Click here for information on testing and replacement.
