replace transmission mount

I have been helping a friend of mine do some work on his 96 Cherokee sport. It needs a new transmission mount as upon shutting the engine down it rattles. I've looked under the frame rail and it appears to be loose. I'd imagine the bolts have broken free of the mount plate. Has anyone done this repair? Any tips would be appreciated.

Re: replace transmission mount

A very straightforward replacement, only takes a short time. Looking objectively at the mount will make obvious what you need to do. Biggest tip is stick with the rubber replacment mount. The poly replacements are very stiff, and transmit vibration to the uni-body. You won't like the results of using the poly mounts. Hard learned experience talking!
