no spark after parking

My boss has a 99 express 1500, with a 4.3 and 160,000 on the clock. He called me saying after having the van parked for a week it wouldn't start. checked all fuses, fuel and have both. when I touched the wire on #6 it broke away from the boot. so after a couple of hours changing the plugs and wires , tried to crank it, nothing. checked for spark from dist. nothing. no spark from the coil either. can't get my hands on a scanner and the last of the fixin money has to be spent wisely. Any help at all would be appreciated.

Re: no spark after parking

If you are near an Autozone you can "rent" a scanner for free. You just leave a deposit equal to the value of the tool and then take it with you.

You use it and then take it back and they refund your deposit. You are likely going to need a new part anyway, so you are likely to buy it from them when you return the tool.

If you don't have the cash on you for the tool deposit they will normally take a credit card.

Check with your Autozone. Other chains have started to do this as well.
