Studio 27 Barry Sheen's bike conversion kit
Does anybody know Studio 27's 1/12th scale Suzuki RGB500 Texaco 1979 Conversion Kit for a Barry Sheen's bike?
Does it worth its price? Thanks in advance! |

Re: Studio 27 Barry Sheen's bike conversion kit
Well, it does depend on how much you want it!
There's not much in the kit - a new resin tank and seat, some metal parts for the exhausts, beautifully machined silencers, decals and an etch fret. I paid £45 for mine. The resin bits are very well done, nice and clean as you would expect from S27. The only suspect bits maybe the white metal parts, but this only means some test fitting and trimming. To get an accurized 79 bike does require some work to the swingarm from what I've seen. I'm biased of course, but I think it's worth it. Of course you also have to consider, what other choices are there for a 1979 Sheene Suzuki??

Thanks for your reply, Paul.
Considering your answer, what I wonder now is if there is information enough for correcting S27's mistakes and superdetailing the kit. Thanks again. |

Re: Studio 27 Barry Sheen's bike conversion kit
You just need the Pit Walk book no 7 (!!) Suzuki RG500 74-86. Plenty of bigs pics showing the 79 and 80 bikes. I don't think the differences are enormous, but they centre around the shock/swingarm layout.
....Having just checked my S27 instructions - the changes are detailed as you get the shocks and a new frame attachment for them in the TK. So it's covered.
