Had to lay on the brakes in my 94 Ranger 2WD a few weeks ago. Shortly after the ABS light and brake light came on. Immidiately looked at fluid and checked for leaks. checked out OK. Not much experience with ABS so I had a mechanic try to figure out how to read the code to no avail. (He mentioned that "it could be worn pads") Thus far I have replaced rear pads, hubs and hardware, front pads, rotors calipers and hoses. The light continues to come on after a short drive and normal braking. I don't normally just randomly throw parts at a problem but in all fairness I havn't replaced anything yet that wasn't in poor condition anyway. Really could use some advice on how to pull the ABS codes or what to look for. Any help much appreciated.

Re: 94 Ranger ABS light
Also check the ABS fuse (I know, doesn't make sense, but a bad fuse will cause the ABS light to come on). What does it do when you stomp the brakes? Can you lock 'em up or does it work?

Re: 94 Ranger ABS light
My 94 Ranger did the same thing when I hit the brakes hard to avoid a deer a bout 40k back. I did nothing and after a couple weeks the light quit coming on. Not Sure if I have ABS now or not But the truck stops good
