Smile fiero trouble help

Hi I am new to this forum. I own a '85 FIERO GT V6 A.T. Well right now the car cranks but doesn't start. I wanted to start it up this summer in hopes of selling it. I haven't drove it in two years, but has been ran many times. It has it's ocassional 20 year old car problems, but not this bad. I started it up this summer it ran, but with a high idle and some initial smoke I just thought it was stale/bad gas. I changed the spark plugs, because I knew it needed it, it drove fine. It started up fine but still had a high idle. I decided to pour about 5 gallons of fresh gas in it, and change the fuel filter. After that there were more problems it started fine the fuel filter was tight, no leaks. As soon as I hit the gas it died it continued to for a while, I had to two foot it just to get it to go. I drove it around for ten minutes then decided to take it back. After letting it set for a day I went to start it and it wouldn't turn over. This happened about two weeks ago and just had a chance to look at it today. The fuel pump turns on. I put another fuel filter on because I have heard that if gas in the car is really bad it can clog up to 2 to 3 filters, however the filter seemed fine blew through well, I replaced it anyway. I plan to check the cap and rotor tomorrow as well as the wires. I am hoping it is not the plugs I just changed them and what a pain that was. I hope the back three are seated perfectly. I've had that problem before in winter, the car wouldn't crank over and it was one of the back three plugs that was filed out. Sorry this was a long post I wanted to be precise. only help if you have experienced this or know what I am talking about. Otherwise I know the trouble shooting methods: trouble codes, fuel pressure regulator, IAC, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, timing, fuses, engine fried. I don't want to spend time and money on stuff it doesn't need. I also hope it is nothing to serious. If you have had this similar problem with a fiero or another car please help.

Re: fiero trouble help

yeah if the engine turns over and it's getting fuel then check to see if it's getting spark. if not then check to see if theres spark from the coil!if theres spark from the coil but not to the plugs it's the ingition control module under the cap! i'v seen many of these cars smoke them out as well as the coils!
