Won't stay running

I just drove home from work in my 02 taurus V6 and it was fine. Was home for about five minutes and when it started but wouldn't stay running. If I rev the engine, it will stay running but as soon as I let of the gas it stalls. Anybody know what the problem might be? I haven't had anything like this happen before.

Re: Won't stay running

Could be many things. Could be a vacuum leak, a stuck or obstructed EGR valve, a faulty Idle Air Control (IAC) valve, DPFE sensor, weak fuel pump, etc. You'll need to do a bit more troubleshooting.

If you just barely hold the throttle open once started, what is the slowest engine speed that will keep the car running? Is the engine running rough at this speed? What happens after the car sits and the engine cools? Are there any diagnostic codes? How many miles are on the car and when was the last tune up performed? How about the battery, how recently has it been replaced? What is the battery voltage with the engine off as well as when the engine is running at the minimum engine speed?
