1991 Buick wont start
l have a 91 Buick with 3.8 l was getting a mass air code an cam sensor. l replaced both an still had cam sensor so l tore the engine apart an replaced cam sensor magnet shore enough it was gone got the motor back together car ran great no code or light Drove it around the block 2 times 3rd time around car started back firing through intake jerking an didn't want to run l got back home light is on l get a code 42 l had to replace the crank sensor bracket when l replaced mag it was broken on one side lt looked like l had it aligned right but could this be the problem car wont even start didn't check fore fire or anything last night it was to late! l noticed the coil pack got so hot you cant touch them.
Went out today turned key started right up no trouble light idle little high engine stalls at stops idle lopes plenty of power drove about 30 min light came on code 42 Last edited by BAMB136; 07-09-2008 at 01:45 PM. |

I wish you had the spare parts to do a Delco Type 2 ignition swap to that car to see if that solves the issue you are having.. I had an ignition control module go out on my in this manner and I replaced it with a Delco Type 2 system... But with my luck that went out too... Replaced it with another Type 2, and its been severl years with no issues..
Not too sure what to tell you at this point.. This is the Delco Type 2 system..
