92 LeSabre Hood Latch
Does anyone have a pic of a "good" hood latch?
I can't tell by looking at it what is broken and it's not in my Haynes. The hood latch cable is good but when it pulls back, the latch does not clear. Seems like there should be some sort of spring to clear the latch allowing the hood to release. Thanks.

Re: 92 LeSabre Hood Latch
This must be a common problem as it is/was a problem on both of my 92s. For my 92, it still is a problem. I have to pull the release then go to the hood and hold the push lever up while jerking the hood up and down until it pops.
I fixed my wife's through some questionable rigging. I pulled and twisted and pinned the cable such that there is good tension on the line and it is caught between some metal (I'd have to take a picture and it is too dark now.) Anyhow it pops really good when I release it. Your basic problem is that the cable needs more tension. It either stretched over time or the space between ends has shrunk. I'm guessing it stretched. To fix it you need to create less distance between ends. One way to do this is to in essence shorten the cable like I did by wrapping the end around something and crimping it down in place really good. |

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give it a try.
