99 civic paint is peeling on roof
My daughter's EX is painted ( I believe it is forest green ). Does anyone know if Honda warranties their paint? With all the claims of these cars going 300,000 miles when maintained this car will look like hell in no time.I saw another one just like it that doesn't appear to get washed and waxed and the whole roof is peeled away. Will continous waxing slow this peeling process down?

Re: 99 civic paint is peeling on roof
Washing & waxing your car is the just another part of maintenance that you have to do with your car that is necessary to keep it running. Not only to protect the paint but help inhibit rust as well.

Re: 99 civic paint is peeling on roof
alfonso,
thanks for the information but I am trying to get specific questions answered in my thread. I can't go back in time to when the car was new so I am trying to find out what I can do now. Many cars produced over the years have had paint that just did not stay on the car.I think this one of them. Thanks again. |

Re: 99 civic paint is peeling on roof
I seriously doubt you'll get any help from the manufacturer on a car that old.
A problem like that isn't going to slow down with a good waxing, if it's peeling, then the paint is failing underneath, and waxing the top won't help. I do a lot of small collision repairs and the only way I can guarantee my paint work on one that's peeling is to strip it to brite shiney metal, prime with epoxy primer, and repaint. It's expensive, but the only way to make it last. You have to strip the entire panel, otherwise it will just start peeling somewhere else later on if you don't.
