I just bought an used 1999 Windstar SEL and the door behind the driver open automatically using the controller but it wont close. When I was inspecting the vehicle I see a steel wire right under the window in the rear. The cable is not broken, apparently became loose from somewhere. Can someone tell me how to put it back in place because is getting annoying specially with the kids.

Probably is broke inside the motor. Motor is behind panel to left of captains chair. The wire goes out one side of the motor, and goes out by the glass to to the rear of the door, and then from the other side to the front of the door. There is a retention clip that holds the cable to the door. Tell the kids NOT to play with the door while opening & closing. Mine broke, and dealer wanted $1000 to fix, saying they had to take door off. That was not true. Found the motor at Diehl auto parts (Look online & call them) for around $100 guaranteed, and it took a couple hours to install. I took all the seats out, so I could remove all the side panel, and it really was not that bad.

Great info. Thanks a million. I have 2 questions form you.
Do you have the URL for Diehl auto parts? I google them and I got some other things non related to Auto-parts? Do you know the catalog or real name of the door motor? Manny NYC |
