Smile Heater fan stays on now!

I have a 95 4.6 with the auto climate control...my cig lighter didnt work and i was in hurry, so i found an extra plug that wasnt being used (my guess it was maybe a diff option for the fan control) and i hooked it up to my cig lighter. As soon as i plugged it in my fan came on and will not shut off. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Heater fan stays on now!

Welcome to the forum dtb78d. I guess you won't be plugging things in anymore that you don't know what they go to! The correct feed to the lighter should have 12V at the connector at all times. If it doesn't then check the fuse to be sure there's is 12V on both sides of it. Also make sure the lighter has a good ground connection. Does the fan stay running even when you disconnect the "extra plug" from it? My guess is the fan didn't start until you pushed in the lighter to heat it or the lighter was pushed in to begin with. I'm curious as to where that "extra plug" is supposed to be connected but since I don't have a wiring diagram for a '95, I can't say for sure. Since you say you have the Semi-automatic Temp Control in your car go to the Tech Help thread at the top of the main page and look for my thread that tells how to run a diagnostic check on it. Let us know what you find out. If the fan is still running without the "extra plug" connected then you probably have a problem with either the Blower Motor Speed Controller or the Semi-automatic Temp Control Module. Before you plug anything in that you don't know about, it might be cheaper to buy a 1995 Thunderbird Electrical and Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual on Ebay or Helms!
