check engine light flashing

I have a 2001 Sportage only 70,000 miles on it check engine light is flashing,car's bucking and it smells like amonia any ideas besides the scrap yard...........its just one thing after another with this thing

Take it to Autozone and have them scan it. They will usually do it for free. That way you can know why the light is flashing and they can even offer you advice from there!

The catalytic is most likely the problem. If I remember there was a factory recall on these but with 70,000 miles its probably not covered. Auto Zone will tell you what the code is.
