Motor swap

Hey there folks I was wondering if a 2.7 from a 97 Intrepid would directly bolt in place into a 01 Intrepid? Would I have to change any sensors and ect from the 01 motor over to the 97 motor?

Thanks

Re: Motor swap

You need a 98 and later 2.7 L (24 valve SOHC) engine to swap into your 01. The 93-97 Intrepid base engine was a 3.3 L (12 Valve Pushrod) with an optional 3.5 L 24V engine.

Oh maybe I got the year of the car the motor would be comming out of to go into my 01. But anyways as long as the year is 98 and up the motor will work and just bolt into place? Now also will any sensors need to be taken from the old motor and put on the replacement motor at all?

Thanks

Re: Motor swap

I would keep the old engine handy for possible sensor swaps, there may have been some minor changes between the years or no changes at all, but as a just in case measure yes swap over any sensor that doesn't fit into your 01 wiring connections. This may also apply to brackets for accessories and such too.
