97 Regal-Change Oil soon lights stays on

Hi yes the oil has of course been changed for 3 months and the "Change Oil Soon" light stays on the IP Cluster all the time. I also notice that my odometer reading keeps flickering, (the left side RPM/Oil Life monitor system display has been burnt out for over a year)
I have replaced the speed sensor on the tranny (VSS) last Oct because of a jumpy speedo needle. Yesterday it acted up again, but today was normal.

My concern is the IP Cluster falling apart? Because now even my "Check Engine Soon" light stays on

Thanks for all input!

You may have a failing ignition switch/harness assembly. It's a very common issue on GM W-bodies and will cause all kinds of dash light and electrical gremlins. There is a DIY proceedure posted at the Grand Prix tips and maintenance sub-forum. The Grand Prix is the Regal's sister car and they share many parts.

Re: 97 Regal-Change Oil soon lights stays on

thanks for the quick reply....i have already replaced my ignition switch over 2 yrs ago and i know how big a job it was. It started off with a bad turn signal that caused stalling....

Do you think I should just get it scanned to find out if it is a true trouble SES code?
