Exhaust suggestions

I've got a '99 sedan, 1.3 l 4 cyl. The muffler rotted off and the pipe from the resonator back is in pretty rough shape. What's my best source for getting a low cost cat back exhaust for this thing? I looked online, but didn't find much.

Thanks!

That's tough - the places who deal in used parts cut out the cats, at least out here in Cali, instead of worrying about unbolting it (if it's a bolt-on, not a weld-on), and it does a pretty good job on the ends of the pipe. I suppose you could get the pipe/muffler anyway, but you'd need to take a hacksaw or other tool (like a cut-off disc for a drill, for example) and cut the squished end off, then weld the remainder in place.

Autozone and the other car parts dealers (Schuck's/Kragen, etc.) also sell back end parts - exhaust tips, short pipe lengths, etc. - mostly for aftermarket use. Not the cheapest thing though.

Wish I could help more - I was looking to replace my cat when I had trouble with emissions last year and never found an option other than buying new and paying the bucks.

Good luck!
