Buying a Car from EBAY?

Hi all, first time poster, long time lurker.

I've been looking for my first car for about three months now in my local area, and havn't had much luck, so I'm considering e-bay but have no experience with it. I don't know anyone who's bought a car from ebay, but im very leary about buying a car ive never test driven before. Anyone here have any advice, or experience with buying from ebay? Is it a no go? This is the car I want:

Re: Buying a Car from EBAY?

Hey there. . . Ebay is a tricky place to purchase big ticket items. I bought my Dodge Avenger off Ebay and everything went great! I think the only reason things went well is because I got lucky and purchased the vehicle from very nice and honest people. They were very forthcoming with the problems the car had and very willing to work with me on repairs and shipping! It is hard because it is very easy to hide things online since you would be purchasing the car sight unseen. If you do decide to do it BE CAREFUL!!!

Re: Buying a Car from EBAY?

While there are thousand of items on E Bay I would consider, bidding on a vehicle is not one of them, kicking tires is the only way to buy a car, you may end up with a sore toe but will still have a wallet in your back pocket.

There may be many valid buy's - and just as many there are not, unless you really got the experience and know the loop holes stay away the odds are not with you.

Re: Buying a Car from EBAY?

If you are going to buy a car on ebay make sure you buy from someone who has been selling cars on there for a long time with lots of positive feedback (for previous car sales obviously) and shows the car in detail from every angle. Also ask lots of questions before buying. There are a lot of great cars for sale on ebay but you do have to be careful.

Ebay does have a purchase protection plan for up to 50k to protect you from fraudulent sellers so if you do get a lemon you may be able to get your money back.

The car selling market is pretty tough these days so ebay is actually a good option because cars can go for less because of the concerns people have about buying online sight unseen.

Good luck.
