hesitation problems


I have a 1994 Chevy Caprice Classic LS with a 4.3 V8 engine. The Odometer reading is 196,000. Only thing ever changed as long as I had this car was spark plugs,wires, and fuel pump. When I pull off it has a bad hesitation . On early mornings when I pull off it is ok for about 1 or 2 miles down the road. After that occurs thats when it starts the hesitation, and as it starts that I almost have to hold it to the floor to pick up speed. When I am at normal cruising at about 50 to 60 miles per hour thats when the hesitation also occurs even in a lower gear I still feel the hesitation. Need immediate help on what can be causing this.

I had same problem. Get the cataletic converter checked out..

Does it overheat? If not, you can probably rule the cat out. Like I said before, it might be in the OptiSpark unit. Blue Bowtie knows more about this than I do, so I expect he might have something to offer if I am wrong.

so this hesitation occurs after the engine warms.....this with your replacement part listing I would recommend the EGR valve for starters...this componet has a spring , the spring after years of heat and use will loose tension and cause the EGR to open too much.....this causes the hesitation after warm up as EGR will not be allowed operate when engine is cold.............usually these OEM EGR valves act up after 10years or 120,000mi...
