Code Reader Problem

When I hook my code reader up to the data link on my 2000 Bravada it tells me it's not conected. I have tried the reader on other vehicles and it works on them, any suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Code Reader Problem

Yes, my other vehicles are OBD II one was a 2000 Toyota Tundra and the other is a 2004 Dodge Ram3500. I will check the ground on pin #5 and also check fuse for ECM. If the ECM fuse is blown would the vehicle still run? Thanks for the advice, any other suggestions will still be appreciated.

Re: Code Reader Problem

Ground on pin #5 is strong, fuses appear to be good. Just to see if it was a GM compatable thing, connected it to an '02 LeSabre, works fine on it too. I am stumped, anyones ideas here would be appreciated.

you might try pulling the ECM unit and take it to AutoZone, a local speed shop, or a dealership to see if they can connect to it. If they can you have a wiring problem somewhere. If you have a local speed shop go there, they or the dealership might have a programing upgrade for you too.

Re: Code Reader Problem

why dont you try to check with your test light and see every pin on the connector and compare to the other cars. this way you know which pin is missing ground or power. if its missing ground just put a ground from the car to the wire.

Re: Code Reader Problem

The cigarette lighter fuse is tied into the obd port, mine was blown and would not read, was getting a not connected error, until I found the blown fuse.
