torque specs
Could someone please tell me the head bolt tightening sequence and torque specs for a 93 Geo 3 cylinder? I don't have a manual, have looked through the posts and can't find it. Thanks

Re: torque specs
It took way more than the limit of 75 ftlbs.on my tork wrench to take off my head, had to use a break-over-bar, whats up with that?

Re: torque specs
Same here. I had to use a 32" breaker bar to break them loose.

Re: torque specs
Cylinder Head to Engine Block Bolts......54 to 55 Ft lbs of Torque.
Cylinder Head/Valve cover nuts ......5nm or 44 Inch lbs. Geo Metro Cylinder Head Bolt Tightening Sequence. Make sure all bolts are installed and at least hand snugged down before beginning the sequence.

Re: torque specs
Something else someone said in an earlier post: after engine is put together anti-freeze needs to have air pockets removed. I can't find the little nozzles on this engine to bleed the air. Does anyone know where these are?

Re: torque specs
The aluminum block and steel bolt threads react to each other effectively gluing the bolts in place. They should be oiled before assembly, I think anti-seize compound would be better than oil.
There are no bleed valves although one of those at the throttle body would be a great idea. You bleed the air out by running it with the radiator cap off until the fan has switched on and off five times or so. Works a lot better if you jack the front of the car up so that the radiator cap is the highest point.

Thanks for the replies guys. I think I can put the Metro back together again. It had a broken center exhaust valve, caused at least partially by a stopped up egr passage. We cleaned those (with the wire spring method), and as soon as the parts get here I'll finish up. Thanks again!!
