99 lumina driving me crazy

Could someone please tell me where to find the DLC on a 99 lumina? This car is driving me crazy it is like a ghost or something. One day I'll get in and it will run great the next I'll get in and it backfires and won't even go. check engine light comes on sometimes and sometimes not. I have taken it to three mechanics even the chevrolet dealership. Dealership said fuel is running rich but found no real problem. Got in it to leave dealership and car would not even go. It loses power...sputters....backfires. It is driving me nuts!! Everyone has a different theory on what is wrong. I bought the OBD 11 car reader but can't find the link for it. Please help or give advice...don't know what else to do at this point. Thanks so much!

Re: 99 lumina driving me crazy

You said you had taken the car to the dealership, did they check the condition of the fuel? I've had some vehicles, because of condensation in the gas tank, to do the very same thing because it was trying to fire on water in the fuel. Another reason could be the electronic igniton performing really bad and needs to be replaced. I'm from the old school and probably neither thing I mentioned was in the same ball park. Wishing you good luck.

I'd take it right back to the dealership. If you paid for them to diagnose a problem and you obviously didn't get your money's worth. Talk to the service manager and tell him your situation. They probably just had a quick-lube tech check it out. To me your symptoms sounds like you may have a bad catatalyc convertor, but I wouldn't take my word.....I'd need more info.
