Yea, it was a PITA.
I ended up totally bypassing the factory wiring and running new wires to the speakers in the doors and rear deck. Did you have factory premium sound? It's even worse if you do. |

ya it did. Had to run only some of the wires back to the stereo.

I've put a stereo in both a 1999 Ford Escort and the 2000 Ford Escort ZX2 that I own now and I have to agree that it's not fun.
I'm curious as to why you chose to put that amp looking thing under the drive seat? It seems like a bad location if you live a climate with cold winters since the heater would blow hot air right over it. |
