Rhythmic squeak from front driver wheel.

I have a 98 GTP two door. I have been noticing a squeak coming from the front driver's side wheel area while going down the road. Now I know that brakes squeak, but I looked them over and there is plenty of meat on the pads. Also, the squeaking maintains while applying the brakes. Usually, you would think it would change somewhat. My question is: given the fact that bad bearings cause a rhythmic growl, could they cause a squeak? They have never been changed at 60K miles. Also, some people mentioned a bent backing plate, but I'm not sure if there is one on the front wheels. How can I pinpoint this noise? Thanks.

A squeak can be anything from a bearing to a dried out bushing. Try spraying the rubber bushings with silicone spray to see if the squeak goes away. Usually a brake squeak is more of a squeal caused by pads vibrating. If the noise gets louder you may want to pull the pads and coat the back with Squeal Stop. If the squeak continues after you spray the bushings I would look at the wheel bearing as that may be the actual cause. Usually, as you sat a bad bearing is a growl not a squeak that is why I think it may be a dry rubber bushing.
