Can I Hotwire My Ignition?

I have a '98 Cavalier.

It appears that someone has broke into my car - the window was down and doors unlocked. My ignition key wouldnt fit in at first, but I have managed to get it in all the way now.

The key wont turn at all. I've tried shifting the steering wheel at the same time to see if it would turn but no luck.

Can I hotwire my car for now until I get it fixed? I have found a method on www.ehow.com to hotwire it but I dont know the color-codes for the ignition to connect the right wires.

Does anyone know this information?

Re: Can I Hotwire My Ignition?

Its not going to happen. The theft lock on the vehicle is going to shut it right down. The ECM, BCM and cluster are all intertwined with one another. If you try and hot-wire it through the ignition switch wires, the car won't get the signal from the key tumbler. There is a wire coming out of it to complete the circuit when starting the car. Just go get a new key cylinder and have it fixed. Shit I have an extra laying around at all times.

I have a program that I can disable the VATS tho, Hptuners.
