02 jetta 2.0 turbo...

ok this is for my friend, he has a 2002 2.0 jetta 5spd. he wants to put a turbo on it, but they are obviously very expensive... he heard somewhere that the exhaust manifolds from the 1.8t will also fit the 2.0 engine, any truth behind this? also, if thats the case then wouldn't most the of the turbo setup from that car work with the 2.0... we are probably all wrong. if anyone has any good ideas please help us out, thank you.
