check engine light
I have a 2007 PT with 10,000 miles on it and the check engine light came on last month. being five gallons of gas from a dealer I read the code myself and found small vacume leak in the fuel system, (gas cap) I tightend the cap and reset the code. Well it came back on . called the dealer and set up an appontment. on the way to the dealer the light went out! the dealer saw no codes and said " the small vacume leaks occure and the light goes on and off" Normal? is this a line of crap I missed the 100,000 mile warrent by a month. I live in New York State so check engine light are not allowed to pass inspection. any advice?

Re: check engine light
It is possible that the gas cap was not screwed on correctly. As long as it is off now you should be alright. You can try leaving the cap a little loose again and see if the car throws the same code.

Ok ,We were using Sunco gas with the Price Chopper discount. Well I was talking to some who was using sunco gas in his chevy truck and his light came on too with an Evap problem like the PT. Well I reset the check engine light and have been using everything else but Sunco gas the the PT and the light has been out for about 2000 miles now. I have lost about 2 miles per gallon but no check engine light. Will keep you posted on the check engine light.

Well back to the dealer, Check engine lite was on because the automatic transmission need a programming upgrade. This is the second one since I purchased the car. Will it never end?
