Adding seafoam to your motor oil
Has anyone done this and if so were there good results? I did some reading on it and it say add it to your oil an hour before oil change. I just want to know if this stuff could be to harsh on a high mileage motor? Also this is gasoline not diesel.
It also says to add 1pint to 4 gallons so it looks like I only add about 6oz to 5qts of oil. |

Re: Adding seafoam to your motor oil
I'll second that. There are already plenty of contaminants in your engine oil, so why add more?

New fresh good oil and a good filter change ever so often is the only good additive. If you get to fooling around with the carbon and sludge it will wind up in your oil pump and crank oiling holes and good by engine and crankshaft and rod and main bearings and lifters. MT

Re: Adding seafoam to your motor oil
Regular use of Top Tier Gas will clean things up nicely. Intake carbon deposits and fuel system will be kept much cleaner. This won't do much for a sludged up engine though. I have seen it clean intake valve deposits and has helped clean combustion chamber deposits. http://toptiergas.com/

Re: Adding seafoam to your motor oil
Try polyalphaolefin in the crankcase to clean up sludge and varnish deposits.

Re: Adding seafoam to your motor oil
Added the "toptiergas" site to my favorites.
Was surprised to see Mobile not on it. Fortunately, Chevron, Shell, and Texaco have been my gasolines of choice for years now (in that order) |
