Aftermarket stereo trim ring will not fit

I just paid $160 to have my Alpine stereo installed in my 2003 Alero. When I picked it up there was no trim ring around the stereo to make it look finished. The metal cage was showing. They said the trim ring will not fit and still allow the dash to snap back together. What solutions has anyone found to this problem? It looks terrible...Is there a better dash kit out there for single din stereos?
