RE-Amemiya wide body FD3S

Hi to all:

Here are some photos of the model I'm currently working on.
Its Fujimi's Initial D FD3S kit. The body is very nicely modeled, but the undercarriage is not correct (it's a Nissan generic undercarriage, the same as their Sil-80 or other S13 models).

Not much as been done. The color was applied and I've started to apply the decals.

I have the interior almost ready for some paint (scratch build the roll bar with 2mm solder wire).

And also details the exhaust tip with metal tubing (it was very hard to bend, even after annealing it - the RE-Amemiya's exhaust points further down, but I was not able to bend it more without deforming it).

I still have to cover the front canards and the rear diffuser with CF decal.

I hope to post more soon.

Cheers

Marco Preto

Wow the body look very nice. Did you have to do any work on it or did the body parts come out the box that way? I have a fujimi Mazdaspeed RX7 and the body parts were very poorly made by them

Re: RE-Amemiya wide body FD3S

The body is SOOTB! I only removed the hood pins (I going to replace them with P. E. hood pins) and opened the front air intake for the intercooler. The front bumper required careful alignment, but other than that, it is very nicely modeled.

I leave you a link for a page reviewing RX-7 models. The one I'm building is the one titled "FD3S RX-7 Project D Version, 'Initial D' series Nr.21". You can see the box art there.

Another criticism I have regarding this kit is its wheels! They are way to small! The ones you can see on the 1st image are Aoshima's Advan RG, which are quite larger. just look at the next photo, were you can see the fujimi advan rg wheel on the blue civic and the Aoshima's whell next to it.

Re: RE-Amemiya wide body FD3S

I've started the paint work on the interior. I've also found the brakes to use with this model (the kit brought some nice brakes, but were just to small to use with the 18'' wheels I'm going to use). They came from a Fujimi wheel set and a Nissan 180sx kit.
Here are some photos.

Re: RE-Amemiya wide body FD3S

The dashboard was just completed. There are problems with the sratchbuilt dials in the center console. These were printed on very thick clear decals film and do not conform well to the surface, even after several "baths" with MicroSol.

I hope to complete the interior soon.

Cheers
