97' blazer, no reverse, tranny slips, hardly hits slow on 2nd gear
Bought this vehicle as is for $800 dollars. The guy told me about the problem. But I thought it needed a readjustment to it. Now, I come to find out that it might need some hard work or may be not. Someone please tell me what to do next with this transmission. I don't want to pay someone to fix it. I would like to do it myself. I always do my own mechanic work but I have never worked with transmissions. I don't trust mechanics.

Re: 97' blazer, no reverse, tranny slips, hardly hits slow on 2nd gear
Remove the chip off of the shoulder.
Mechanics are some the most trusted people around you. But I would keep a eye on doctors and used car salesman and telemarketers and oil companies and bankers and a few other brands of people. If you do not trust mechanics this is a bad place to ask for information. This place is full of mechanics/Techs And you are telling us you want to be a mechanic. http://72.19.213.157/files/4L60ERemoval.html http://72.19.213.157/files/4L60ERepairs.html To rebuild it right you usually will need a lot of hard parts and some special tools and some good repair info. I would suggest a good transmission repair hand book from a transmission parts place. They are not cheap. Some will take 750-1000 USA dollars in parts and tools for a no 1 rebuild. But first thing I would check it out. Fluid level and condition full hot in park? Drop pan and check filter and for metal or clutches in bottom of pan. MT
