Doug Polen's 1992 Ducati 888 WSB

Ok, so just finished this one off last weekend. This is Tamiya's 1/12th kit, OOB, very nice it is too. Painted with Zero Ducati red and various other Zero's, Alclads, Tamiya and Humbrol paints. Used S27 small carbon decal on the front and rear huggers. Paint is cleared using 2K.

Heres a couple of build pics....

Approaching completion...

And completion...

Despite my love of Ducatis, I have sat on the fence about buying this kit for many years. This build will finally make me go and get one!

Bravo!!

Excellent !!!

Unfortunatelly lots of your work on the engine / technic cannot be seen, when the fairing is screwed to the frame

Excellent job!! I remember building this years ago when I first started making models and I struggled like hell to get those white number board decals on without wrinkles.Yours look pretty much perfect though, so well done.

Hmm, well they're no easier now, let me tell you! I have never used such thin decals - my first attempt ended in misery, I was fortunate to have a spare set from a mate. Lots of relief cuts which were eventually hidden under the 1's and microsol. The clearcoats helped smooth things out too.
