Re: heat won't quit

Welcome to the forum!

Does the compressor clutch engage when you have the A/C turned on? Do you have manual (knob) or electronic HVAC controls? Do you have a guage to check the A/C pressure levels? When blowing hot air, does it feel like heated air or just not chilled air? Any change in the temp of the air when adjusting the temperature set point?

Re: heat won't quit

There are several possiblities with this condition as Rod indicated. I'm thinking you may have a problem with one or more of your air temperature blend doors being stuck in the heat position. Knowing if you have the knob or digital controls is needed to narrow down your problem. When you try to adjust the temperature, is there any difference in the air temp? And, do you hear anything while you do this? Do you hear any clicking or thumping? To check for the noise, I recommend doing this with just the key on in run. It would also be good to run the car for a minute and then turn it off so as to have vacuum stored up to operate the vacuum motors that move some of the doors so you hear them move. Usually they will just make an airy sound while moving and a single thump when it stops at the limit of its travel, most likely fully closing a door. This would be done when switching vent direction and type of temperture range. You didn't say, but is this hot air only coming out the defrost and you can't direct it to the other vent openings? This would typically be caused by a disconnected vac hose. Do you hear any hissing sounds or have performance problems with the engine?
