Daytona wont start

I have a 2.5 Daytona ive reset the timing belt 2 x and it wont fire, i have spark but no compression i have fuel, ive changed the coil and injector
someone told me the valves might be bent and that will do the same thing for no compression and no fireing
any help would be great
this is a feature stock race car .
oh is there a good cam upgrade for these engines

Re: Daytona wont start

only way to really hurt the valves is to have it running and break the belt...

I would really look close at the timing, they are tricky in the car especially on the cam end, ( the 2 arrows on the cam gear have to be in line with the top of the head, not parallel with the car, common mistake) make sure you have the distributor drive lined up exactly right too.

If that is all correct, check to make sure the hall effect in the distributor did not come loose, they are only pressed on the plastic rotor in the distributor and over time they will break loose. Also make sure the end of te distributor did not sheer off in the pump drive, been there done that

Loss of compression could be from the valves, and the timing being off, i.e. coming up on the compression stroke while the valve is open, timing off.

I think you have it off on the belt....

Re: Daytona wont start

Was it not starting before you reset the timing belt? Did you replace the timing belt for maintenance, it not start so then you went back redo it? Or the timing belt break and you had to replace it? More info as to how the actual problem occurred would help out.
